Evening Date
2022 Markers, sharpie 8.5” x 11.5” The story behind my artwork is simple, it’s about a girl who’s outside near a forest area. She's on a date with someone who you can’t see but you can guess that the person is behind the artwork since she’s looking at them. Directly behind her there’s a hill and you can see that the sun is setting in the background. The background is more blurry and less detailed compared to the girl which makes you focus your attention on the girl. I wanted to draw a sunset in the background because I think sunsets are breathtaking and even though they are hard to draw, they can come out really good. And I wanted to use that character because she's a character that I created a long time ago so drawing her again was pleasant. In my artwork, you’re looking through the perspective of the person she’s on a date with. That’s why the background is blurry and less detailed, to show that even though the background is beautiful, their main focus is the girl because they’re on a date with her. |
bring your cats to work!
2022 Markers, micron pen 11.11” x 8.10" The story behind my artwork is about a girl and her two pet cats. The girl has to leave for work and normally she brings her cats with her but she couldn’t bring them anymore. So when she leaves, her cats start freaking out and beg her to come back. When she does come back, they’re happy and the last panel shows that she did end up bringing them to work. I really wanted to draw cats because I like them a lot and I wanted to make a short comic instead of just drawing one frame. My favorite cat is a tabby cat so I made one of the cats orange. In my comic, the orange cat stands out a lot because that color wasn’t really included in my color palate. I wanted both of the cats to look different and since the first cat was a bright orange color, I decided to make the other one a normal gray color. I also added some small details to make them more different. Their ears and noses are sightly different shape, and their collars are different colors.. I feel like when someone reads that comic, it’ll make them think of their own pet (if they have one) and make them feel a content mood. |
Stay OUT of your comfort zone
2022 Markers, sharpies, chalk pencils 5.8” x 5.8” My artwork tells people that they should stay out of their comfort zone. I chose that phrase because staying in my comfort zone is something I do a lot so I wanted to talk about it and maybe inspire someone to step out of their comfort zone instead of always staying inside. I chose the colors red and purple because the red went well with the word “STOP” and I chose purple because when I think of my own comfort zone, the color I am the most comfortable with would be purple. |
